WILLIAM (CRAZY BILL) ALEXANDER ROGERS On Friday, May 18, 2012 a Celebration of Dad’s Life was held at 2:30 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 253 McArthur Avenue, Lac du Bonnet, MB, with Pastor Glen Krentz, presider.Publish Date: May 19, 2012WILLIAM (CRAZY BILL) ALEXANDER ROGERS August 10, 1918 – May 9, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather and Big Papa. Left to forever cherish Dad’s memory are his children Lyn (Paul), Bruce (Sandi), Don (Karen); grandchildren Kari (Dave), Mike (Mother Sandy), Jeff (Suzanne), Cameron and Braden (their mother Rhonda); great-grandchildren Leiva, Izabella and Lockelan; as well as numerous other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Christine; wife Mary, and brothers Jack and Jim. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg. He married Mom on June 26, 1943 and they spent their honeymoon at Lee River Falls. He served in the Air Force in the Second World War. Upon returning, Dad resumed work with Canada Post serving as their transportation director. Mom and Dad chose to raise their family in Charleswood. He was heavily involved in the original construction of Roblin Park Community Club along with his brother-in-law Sandy. He retired from the Post Office at the age of 55 and often jabbed that he had been retired longer than he had worked. Dad was thankful for the many blessings in his life especially his family, health, dogs, friends and his good fortune to spend all of his retirement in his home on the Lee River. On Friday, May 18, 2012 a Celebration of Dad’s Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 253 McArthur Avenue, Lac du Bonnet, MB, with Pastor Glen Krentz, presider. On Dad’s behalf, the family would like to thank the staff of N.E.H.A. especially Val, Anette, Anita and Betty for their efforts in supporting Dad’s stay at home. We would also like to thank Dr. VanGend and the staff at the Pinawa Hospital for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Dad had many close friends and family that have been affected by the disease.
