Sad news to hear. Your Dad and Mom were part of the vibrant community of South Africans that will always hold a special place in my heart. The Sunday visits to their home were very welcoming and warm hearted. My Sympathy to your family. From Rhonda Dickens and family.

To the Rhoda family; I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. Our parents were great friends and truly enjoyed each others company. As a child I remember their many get-togethers, which continued for many, many years. In true "Capie" fashion they knew how to party (probably having a scotch right now). Their friendship spanned at least 40 years: with an understanding of what they went through to keep their families safe, respect for each other, and a value system that included compassion and caring for others. On behalf of the Layne family, please accept our sincere condolences.

My sincere condolences to the Rhoda family. I grew up down the Street from the Rhoda family and recall visiting with the boys almost daily. When we got out of hand, Mr. Rhoda would give us a very stern look and stated, "Don't be playing the fool". Looking back now, I believe there was a twinkle in his eye. This wonderful man was a testament to the fine family he and his wife raised. RIP. Mike K. (childhood friend of the Rhodas)
