WILLIAM JESSE BOTTLE

September 10, 1937 — February 18, 2019

On Monday, February 18, 2019, William Jesse Bottle passed away at the age of 81 years. In his usual way, Bill ‘battled’ to the end.

Bill was predeceased by his wife, Sandra; grandson Cayden; and parents, Dot and Jesse Bottle. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce (Paul), and Margaret; his children, Barbara (Colin), and Ross (Bobbi); and six grandchildren.

Bill grew up in Elmwood, and often talked about the simple pleasures of his childhood: going on hikes and cooking a tin of beans over an open fire, racing his bike around the schoolyard at King George V School, and playing hockey on local rinks and streets.

It was also in Elmwood that Bill met Sandra, the love of his life. Bill and Sandra were married in 1959 and soon moved to the house on Cranbrook Bay where they would raise their kids and host legendary parties that folks still speak fondly of today.

Bill worked for Canada Post his entire career where he made many life-long friends. In 1991, he decided to take an early retirement from the Post Office. He and Sandra took a brave leap and moved to the south of Spain to be with friends Ann and Joe Flood. Bill lived life to the fullest during his thirteen years there in his garden, where he could be found climbing trees with a pruning saw in his hand, playing darts and cribbage at local pubs, and enjoying Spanish fiestas and dinner parties.

Cremation has taken place. Bill was firm on what he wanted after his death—nothing in the way of a fancy service, and nothing in a church. To honour this wish, a party will be held at 155 Canora Street on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to drop in any time with their best Bill Bottle stories.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deer Lodge Centre.
