Peacefully, after a brief illness, it is with deep sadness we announce the death of Vi Stanlake (nee Savich) on October 8, 2026. She is survived by her son Jerin Stanlake and his wife Audra Koop as well as her daughter Andrea. She was predeceased by her husband Landis.
Vi was born in Brandon Manitoba on August 29, 1943. She attended teachers college in Brandon in 1962. She taught in a one room country school and later moved to Winnipeg to get her Bachelor of Arts degree where she met and married Landis. She taught at a school in Elmwood before taking time off to raise her two young children. In 1984 she returned to work at a daycare in Westwood High School, where she met her lifelong friend Lynne Eisner. She taught for a brief period at the Osborne Resource Center before becoming a teacher at Stony Mountain prison, where she worked for 9 years before her retirement.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Friday, October 23, 2026, at St. Charles Parish. Viewing to commence at 9:30. Burial to follow service.
