VICTORIA JANE BANNER

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria Jane Banner at the age of 41years. Vicki?s long heroic and dignified battle with cancer came to an end on Friday, March 9, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones.
Left to cherish Vicki?s memory is her devoted and loving husband Zenon Hudyma and their precious dogs Noodles and Slade; in-laws, Leona and Zorian Hudyma; her English family that she was so happy to find, Margaret, Beverley, Katy, Nikki, John, Ian, and Steven; in Winnipeg, mother Hilary; brother Paul; nephew Patrick; and too many cherished friends to count. She was predeceased by her beloved Nana, Hilda Bowman and dad Bruce Guyda.
At the age of 16 Vicki came to us as a British import. In short order, she settled right in to Winnipeg and a lifelong group of friends, though never quite forfeiting her unique English swagger.
Vicki?s great big, proud and independent heart had room in it for everyone who needed a hand up, though she rarely, if ever asked or expected anything in return. She has been known to take a day off of work to drive an injured bird to the animal hospital or to clear out her bank account to help a friend in distress. Yet, even in the last hardest months, she genuinely noted and appreciated every kindness and every word of love and encouragement given to her, never taking anything for granted.
Vicki leaves us far too early. Cancer came for her at a time in her life when she was at her happiest and most radiant. In Zenon, she had found and married the love of her life. She had thrown all caution to the wind and was living her dream of creating stunning works of art and building her life with Zenon and their beloved dogs.
Through everything, she faced each day and each new challenge with a hope for a brighter tomorrow and a belief in her own resilience. Many of us were humbled by her strength and honoured to call her a friend.
A Celebration of Vicki?s Life will be held this Friday, March 16 from 3-7pm in the Ukrainian Labour Temple, 595 Pritchard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
Vicki loved her husband and all the world?s creatures. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the animal shelter of your choice.

?Rest in peace sweet, beautiful girl.
You fought like the warrior life has taught you to be
and with the dignity and grace that was all your own.
You will be missed more than words can say.?
