SUSANNE MONIKA CLARKE

Susanne Clarke (née Alder), 87, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert (Bob) Clarke of Winnipeg; her son, Chris (Corinne) of Winnipeg; daughter, Pamela of Ottawa; and son, Michael (Kelly) of Moncton New Brunswick. Susanne was a proud and loving grandmother to Candice (Kyle); Cory (Shelby); Curtis (April); CaraLynn; Matthew; and Jonathan; and a proud and loving great-grandmother to Malakai and Tristan. She is also survived and fondly remembered as Tante Susi by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, and sisters.

Susanne was born on July 1, 1932 in Neustadt (Dosse) Germany and trained as a nurse. She came to Canada as a young woman in 1954. She met Bob shortly after her arrival and they were married after a whirlwind courtship. Susanne loved to travel and experience different cultures and languages, becoming relatively fluent in Spanish after trips to Cuba, Mexico, and Spain. She enjoyed reading a wide variety of books and going to the movies with Bob. She was a die-hard fan of Coronation Street. Susanne loved to garden, whether caring for plants in her house or in her yard. She also loved fresh cut flowers, and Bob brought her a new bouquet every week. Susanne will be remembered by many as a kind and lovely person. Her nephew, Markus, recalls her as forever young, a little bit crazy and funny. She will be greatly missed and remembered always.

Cremation has taken place and when it is possible, the family will hold a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susanne’s name to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
