SHIRLEY CORDY
APRIL 28/35-MAY 13/22

It is with profound sadness that Mom in the arms of her loving daughter passed away peacefully surrounded by love, on Friday May 13, at the Grace Hospital. Left to cherish her memory is her son Glenn (Cathy) grandchildren Jason (Brooke) and Missy, her daughter Donna (Doug) grandchildren Tyler (Kate), Garret (Ashley) and Great grandchildren Lainey and Joe, Grand-Pets Jeter, Paytin and Moose.

Mom was born in Bienfait, Saskatchewan. She lived in Estevan as a child and as a young adult, moved to Victoria, B.C. where she met the love of her life Mike, whom she was married for 64 years. They came to Winnipeg in 1962 where they put down their roots in Fort Garry. In 1975 they purchased their cottage at Lee River which they loved for nearly 40 years. For the past 7 years she’s enjoyed living at The Waverley.

Mom worked at the Royal Bank of Canada, Powell Equipment and when Mike started his business, she was his bookkeeper until retirement.

Family and friends were everything to Mom. She was the best cook, and the cookie jar was always full. Mom and Dad vacationed at their condo in Florida and upon retirement they enjoyed Gold Canyon for 6 months a year for 20 years, where they met many new friends and played softball, golf and had many happy hours.

Mom loved bingo, playing cards and Yahtzee with friends. She was always there for her friends and family. She volunteered her time at nursing homes and took seniors to their appointments for numerous years. She loved her grandchildren so much and was so proud of all of them.

Mom was the epitome of a kind, gentle, compassionate, loving person. She wrote the book on patience, forgiveness, and positivity. The last couple of years have been so difficult on everyone, she never complained once; she just looked forward to when we finally were able to see each other again. Her smile, her laugh was so infectious and will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Waverly and especially the staff at Access Fort Garry Home Care Team that cared for mom. She always spoke so fondly of you all, and during Covid you were her only physical and in-person interaction.

Cremation has taken place, and as per her wishes a private family gathering will honor this incredible woman.

In lieu of flowers, please pay it forward as she so often did.
