In Loving Memory of Ryan Alan Whyte

It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Ryan Alan Whyte on August 31, 2026, at the far too young age of 36.

Ryan was born on December 21, 1989, to parents Bev and Rob Whyte. He was a beloved fiancé, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose funny, kind, and adventurous spirit brought love and laughter to the lives of those around him. He had a heart bigger than words can describe and loved deeply. Although his time with us was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain with us always.

On August 25, our lives changed forever when Ryan suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. The paramedics fought to bring him back, giving his family precious time and hope that he might recover. Despite Ryan’s incredible strength and the tireless efforts of the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Acute Cardiac Care Unit, he had suffered too much damage. After six days of fighting, Ryan passed away peacefully on August 31, surrounded by the people he loved most.

Ryan will be forever loved and deeply missed by his fiancée, Lindsey, the love of his life and best friend; his father, Rob; his beloved sister, Kyla; his nephew, Jaxon; his soon-to-be in-laws; and his cherished fur babies, Penny, Zoey, and Pixie. He will also be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

He was predeceased by his mother, Bev; his grandparents, Don and Eleanor; his uncle, Brent; and his beloved dog, Gunner, who held a very special place in his heart.

Ryan will be remembered for his many passions, including music, movies, anime, and comics. He was always looking for the next adventure, eager to discover new places, and could never pass up the opportunity to hunt down the best ice cream. He saw beauty in the simplest of things. He loved his three fur babies, Penny, Zoey, and Pixie, with his whole heart—even if he couldn’t stand all the fur.

Ryan was also so excited to marry the love of his life, Lindsey, in just a few short weeks. Though that day will never come as they had dreamed, the love they shared was real, deep, and beautiful. Ryan leaves behind a lifetime of memories that Lindsey and all who loved him will carry forward.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the paramedics and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Acute Cardiac Care Unit for their extraordinary efforts to give Ryan another chance at life. Their efforts gave his family the precious gift of time—to be with him, to hold him, to tell him how deeply he was loved, and to say goodbye.

Ryan spent so much of his life finding joy in the stories of Batman and the many heroes he admired. In the end, he showed us that heroes don’t always wear capes. They are found in the people who love deeply, who leave their mark on the lives of others, and whose presence makes the world a little brighter simply by being in it.

His greatest legacy will be measured not in years, but in the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind.
