ROSE HAMILTON

March 20, 2012

ROSE HAMILTON (nee PURDY) On Tuesday, March 20, 2012, Rose passed away peacefully surrounded by love at the Victoria Hospital. She had celebrated her 98th birthday on February 27 with family and friends. Left to forever cherish Rose’s memory are sons Sandy (Valerie), Bob (Linda) and Jim; brother Lawrence; sisters Dorothy, Nora and families; seven grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren who were very special to Rose, as she was to them. Coming from a family of nine brothers and sisters, Rose was a fighter from the very beginning. She lived her life to its fullest. She was an independent strong woman who raised her three sons with a firm and loving hand. Not a traditional cookie baking grandmother, Rose was an accomplished business woman who owned and operated several boarding homes as well as restaurants where she did what she loved the most….cooking and caring for others. Having the voice of an angel, Rose took pride in her involvement with the Winnipeg Seniors Choir for many years as well as the Holy Rosary Church Choir. Her true joys were her family, friends and her strong faith in God. She was lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel to many destinations during her retirement. Rose was known for her green thumb ….and took great pride in the beautiful gardens surrounding her home. She will always be remembered for her sense of fashion and flash! She had a great sense of humour with the giggle of a young girl, she so loved a good joke. Rose was a presence that will never be forgotten. On Tuesday, March 27, 2012, Rose’s Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Beausejour, MB. Our family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Golden Door Nursing Home for their respectful loving care of Rose during her stay.   As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on March 24, 2012
