ROBIN LEONARD CUTTS
Robin Leonard Cutts, 78, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025.
Robin was born to Kenneth and Patricia Cutts in Taber, Alberta, on November 19, 1946. He was the eldest of six children. Robin spent his early years in various towns in Alberta before moving with his family to Toronto at age 14. This is where he graduated from high school. After graduation, he served a three-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Finland, where he learned to speak Finnish.
Robin earned a bachelor’s in psychology from Brigham Young University. He later received his Industrial Arts Teacher Education diploma from Red River College, followed by a master’s degree in education from the University of Manitoba. He spent much of his life as an elementary school teacher/Principal in Manitoba and Ontario. He taught in several remote communities, including serving as principal in Churchill, Manitoba. He also worked in First Nations communities, with his longest tenure at Windigo Island School. He lived on the island and traveled weekly between the island and his family in Winnipeg. He traveled by boat in the warmer months, and by snowmobile or car across the frozen lake in winter. Robin excelled at living in nature, adapting to challenging conditions calmly and confidently. He was self-reliant, resilient, and deeply respected in the communities he served. His contribution to these communities leaves a lasting impact.
In addition to his teaching career, Robin previously worked as a welder and home builder, trades in which he took great pride and found deep satisfaction. He was the founder and builder behind Timothy Robin Homes, through which he built over 20 custom homes. He had a remarkable ability to fix, build, and create, with the help of his well-stocked tool collection. If something was broken, Robin could fix it!
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeana Humphries Cutts, and their five children:
Angela Thomas (Joel), Tim Cutts (Erin), Lisa Wilson (Jared), Amy Treanor (Chase), Doug Cutts (Corinne), and his 13 grandchildren:
Lincoln, Dylan, Juneau, Clara, Leonard, Sam, Elle, Winnie, McKinney, Waverly, Danica, Charlotte, and Chloe.
He is also survived by his siblings: Terry Weatherston, Joan Grumbles, Ken Cutts, Pam Call, and Christopher Cutts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Kenneth Cutts.
Robin will be remembered for his quick wit, dry humor, intelligence, resourcefulness, quiet strength, and love for his family. The legacy he leaves behind is rich and lasting.
