Left to forever cherish Ray’s memory is his special friend Judy Corrigal; daughter Tabatha (Bruce); son Stephen (Faith), and grandson Andrew. He was predeceased by his wife Gail; as well as his father and mother Fred and Ann Roper. Ray was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. He built his career at the former Winnipeg Hydro. He became a Journeyman Lineman, and then Foreman of a variety of field crews until his retirement in 1993. Ray was known by many as Steve , in reference to a comic strip popular in his earlier years. Family was always Ray’s focus and pride. He was always ready with a strong shoulder, helping hand and encouraging word. He found great joy and comfort in the deep and caring relationships he had with his family, and the many friends he considered as family. Throughout his life, Ray was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed any time spent outdoors, especially those moments on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. On Friday, January 13, 2012 Ray’s Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital for their care during Ray’s brief stay. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba would be appreciated, www.heartandstroke.mb.ca.
