RAYMOND OLAF JOHNSON

It is with the deepest of sorrows that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Raymond Johnson on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Riverview Health Center at the age of 85 years.

Ray will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his children Susan Raymond (Marc), Janet Johnson, Elizabeth Wagner (Jason), Tracey Johnson (Mike) and Michael Johnson; as well he will be sadly missed by his twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Corise Johnson (nee Desaultels).

Ray was born on January 14, 1934. He married the love of his life Corise on October 1, 1960 and together they raised five wonderful children while living in Winnipeg, Dryden and Vancouver, eventually settling in Winnipeg. Ray was an old school soul who would light up a room with his sense of humour, loving smile and radiant blue eyes. He had a few careers and did whatever he had to, to provide for his family. For most of Ray’s work life he was an iron worker who would always point out Winnipeg landmarks that he worked on telling everyone that “I built that”. Our Dad was an amazing father, he always made sure we had what we needed, showed us how to love and took us on some unforgettable family vacations that provided us with joyful family memories that will last forever.

On Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. a viewing will be held followed by a celebration of Ray’s life at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue. Interment will follow at the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.

Thank you to all of the health care workers who have lovingly cared for our father over the past few years. Although his stay was brief, we also want to say a special thank you to Riverview Health Center for providing him (and us) with unbelievable care, comfort and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donation’s in Ray’s memory may be made to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, 1031 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R8.

Dad we will always miss you, but we know that you are in a better place with Mom.

Please tell her that we miss her too.
