RANDY HOROSHOK

February 20, 2012

RANDY HOROSHOK With great sadness, we announce that Randy William Patrick Horoshok, 49, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, February 20, 2012 with family and friends by his side. Randy will be forever remembered by his partner and soulmate, Margaret; his mother and father, Pat and Jim of Winnipeg; his sisters, Kelly (Wayne) of Calgary and Jody (Jarad) of Minneapolis; Aunty Kathy (Bruce); Aunty Patsy (Ron); seven nieces and nephews and many relatives. He will be sadly missed by his close friends Mladen and Carey and many, many others. Randy was predeceased by his brother Jim and his close friend Allan. Randy enjoyed his childhood in the North End and his family later moved to St. James. He loved hockey and played for the North Winnipeg Satelites and the St. James Canadians, continuing to play hockey with his friends throughout his teen years. Randy was extremely creative and artistic. One of his many passions in life was music and he felt that it was the greatest force in the world for bringing people together. Randy was a vital part of the vibrant Winnipeg punk rock scene. He taught himself to play bass and played in several bands including Direct Action, Bitter Piece and Something Evil. This involvement in music allowed him the opportunity to record and tour. He later taught himself to play guitar and continued writing music and lyrics. Randy enjoyed physical outdoor work and at one time owned and operated his own company, Bushart Landscaping and Maintenance. His other work included power engineer, boiler room operator and school board maintenance. He also enjoyed demolition work, and his time spent at CSI Caulking. Randy was known to be very generous with his time and would always lend a hand wherever it was needed. Randy was a brilliant and wise conversationalist and had a sharp sense of humour. He had a great presence about him and was always surrounded by friends. They found his home to be a gathering place and a safe haven. Someone once told Randy that life is not a party and he proved that to be wrong. He lived large and followed his own path right to the end. Even though Randy left us too soon, he had a profound effect on everyone that he touched while he was here. As was once said about Bob Marley, the world needed Randy more than he needed it. Be safe Randy, we love you. On Saturday, February 25, 2012 a Celebration of Randy’s life will be held in the reception room at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society or Quagga Stray Cat Rescue.Publish Date: Feb 25, 2012RANDY HOROSHOK Randy Horoshok, 49, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, February 20, 2012. with family by his side.
