Very nice job of writing up this remembrance of your mom. I was always so taken with how much your mom and my mom (Ricky) resembled one another almost as if they were twins, their resemblance was so close. Penny was truly an island girl and those traits were displayed so prominently in what you have written in fact I have felt that those small town traits were on display regularly when in her presence and Penny's subtle humour was tucked just below the surface waiting for a reason to come out. Mary Nell and I are sending our love and best wishes to your entire family.

I could not have asked for a more perfect mother-in-law. She welcomed me into the Stephensen family with open arms and treated my 3 children as if they were her own grandchildren. Whenever she spoke of her grandchildren, she ALWAYS said to me “I no longer have 10, I now have 13”. I will forever miss her smile, VERY subtle humour and what it meant to hold your family close. God bless you Penny and for making my life better.

On behalf of myself and all of the family of Merrill (Betty) Walsh, Penny's older brother, we would like to send love and heartfelt sympathies to Aunt Pennys' family. Aunt Penny is lovingly remembered by all of us, and we have many wonderful memories, collectively, of her at different times spanning the years. Aunt Penny was a shining star, who burned a path through the lives of all who met her. One would never suspect that such a petite and lovely lady as Penny would have the fortitude to raise such a wonderful brood of children, let alone as a single Mother! A quiet strength and a strong faith in her God gave her the power that it must have taken to be a true SuperMum! She endured the hard times, and rejoiced in family in the good times. She leaves behind a legacy, as only such a dynamic woman could, through her own family and the many friends and relatives who now feel her loss, but join in wishing her safe passage to the kingdom of God, where her star continues to shine, spreading love and joy of a life well lived. Until we meet again Aunt Penny...? Kent, Kathy, Ron, Kevin, Rhonda Walsh

Oh Mum, this is hard to see. I never really envisioned a time you wouldn't be here with us. You've always been the stable force in my life, guiding me through ups and downs. Not telling me, but showing me how to best live. You've been the most incredible role model to me through my whole life and then also to my family. You taught me everything that makes me who I am today....but they were your qualities first, I just followed you. You showed me what strength, resilience, kindness above all else, love, and truth are and why they matter. Thank you for always opening your door to all my friends, to being at every event that mattered to me, to lovingly understanding me as a teen, to being a part my social circles when I became an adult, and to being such an integral part of my family. You always made us the priority and we are forever grateful. I love you so much and miss you already.
