May 17, 2012

PHYLLIS AUDREY KULYK (nee TRAPP) It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Kulyk, after a brief illness on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 69 years. Left to forever cherish Phyllis’ memory are her daughters, Cathy (Len) and Christine (Jarrod); grandchildren Jade and Jonathan; great granddaughter Lily; brother Alvin (Erna); sisters, Joyce (Blaine), Eleanor (Stan) and Lyla (Donald); as well as many nieces; nephews; extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Roger; sister Irene; brother-in-law Bill; as well as parents William and Lydia Trapp. Phyllis was employed with MTS for over 30 years, holding various positions including being a 411 operator. Upon her retirement from MTS in 2000, she took a part time job at Zeller’s to keep herself busy, retiring from there in 2009. Phyllis enjoyed participating in activities at the Eastern Star Chalet where she lived for the last number of years as well as playing bingo, going shopping to Grand Forks and taking bus trips throughout the province and to the U.S. In compliance with Phyllis’ wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. A private Family Service will take place at a later date. Very special thank yous go out to Dr. Kramer, Dr. Steve Nordstrom and the team of nurses and health care aides from Grace Hospital 3 North who treated Mom with such care and compassion over the last two weeks of her life. Kerry Forsyth who shared Mom’s hospital room always watched over her when we couldn’t be there and for that we will always be grateful. In lieu of flowers donations in Phyllis’ memory may be made to the Vasculitis Foundation Canada (www.vasculitis.ca); to help create greater awareness for Wegener’s Granulomatosis.   As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on May 19, 2012
