PETER ANTHONY JACHETTA Funeral Liturgy was Celebrated on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano, presiding. A private Family Interment took place in Green Acres Cemetery.Publish Date: Mar 31, 2012PETER ANTHONY JACHETTA It is with great sorrow and deep sadness that the children of Peter Anthony Jachetta announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 89 years old. Dad (Peter Sr.) was predeceased by his wife Alice, his parents Ottavio and Ermina, and his sister Mary. Dad will always be lovingly remembered by his children: son Peter (Trudy) children Jennifer and David, (Peter/Candy) children Michael and Steven, daughter Marilyn (Terry) children Darren, Megan and Kathryn, son Raymond (Barbara), and daughter Teresa (Gale) son Brian. Dad also leaves his sister Antoinette and several great-grandchildren to mourn his passing. Born in Winnipeg on December 25, 1922, Dad served his country in the Navy in the Second World War and then returned to operate and manage Earl Grey Confectionery at the corner of Fleet and Arbuthnot for 40 years; afterwards working for two Winnipeg Funeral Homes both as a driver and a funeral service greeter and facilitator. Dad was an Officer in the Crusader Navy Cadet Corps from 1958 to 1970 instructing cadets in navy history, traditions, navy teachings and discipline. Dad began as a sub-lieutenant and rose to the rank of Navy Captain (Colonel) and was the Crusader Corps Commanding Officer for four years retiring from that service in 1970. Mom and Dad lived and raised their children in the happy family home on Mulvey Avenue. A kind and gentle man, Dad will be remembered for his love and devotion to family and friends. Dad was a true officer and gentleman. He conducted himself with strength of character, determination and respect for others. He faced life’s problems and state of health with courage and optimism. He will be dearly missed. A funeral service and mass will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., at 11:00 a.m. with Father Sam officiating. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Interment will be a private family burial.
