Patricia (Pat) Moses

February 4, 1932 - August 19, 2026

In Loving Memory
PATRICIA (PAT) MOSES

In the early hours of August 19, 2026, Patricia (Pat) Moses passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at Riverview Health Centre, with her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Jane, by her side.

Patricia was predeceased by her daughter, Claire, in 1981. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jane, as well as many relatives and friends in Britain, Canada, the United States and Cuba.

She was born, educated and trained as a Registered Nurse in England. During her teenage years, she excelled in swimming and field hockey. Pat moved to Canada in 1957 and lived in Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg before moving to West St. Paul in 1963.

During her years in WSP, Pat participated in various activities, serving for many years with the Middlechurch Brownies, The WSP Centennial Committee, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, the Middlechurch Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was also a member of WSP Curling Club (curled an eight-ender).

In 1972, Pat was elected as a WSP School Trustee on the Seven Oakes School Board. In 1974, she was elected to serve as a member of WSP Council until 1980. During these years, Pat also attended the University of Winnipeg, where she obtained her B.A. in Urban Studies. She served on the Manitoba Judicial Committee in 1975.

In 1976-77, Pat worked as Executive Assistant, for Attorney General, Howard Pawley, and reprised that role in 1980-81 when Mr. Pawley was the Leader of the Opposition.

During 1982-1996, Pat worked as a Policy Analyst for Manitoba Urban Affairs. She was instrumental in developing the BIZ program for Winnipeg and was involved in many programs designed to revitalize the city’s older neighborhoods.

Pat had a deep love of travel and, throughout her life, made lasting friendships wherever her journeys took her. She was especially fond of Nopiming Provincial Park, where she spent many happy and memorable times at both Bird Lake and Davidson Lake.

Following her retirement, Pat spent 20 winters in Texas, embracing the warmth and community she found there. She made many wonderful friends and enjoyed an active lifestyle filled with golfing—including achieving a hole-in-one—shuffleboard, bicycling, movies, ballet, and concerts.

In her later years, Pat also looked forward to winter vacations in Cuba, continuing her love of travel and adventure.

Pat’s remarkable strength and determination were evident throughout her life. From the age of 80 through 89, she walked the 16 flights of stairs in her apartment building every day—a testament to her extraordinary stamina, independence, and perseverance.

She lived life to the fullest, embracing every opportunity and making the most of each day. Pat never wanted to let a moment go to waste. Her zest for life, determination, and spirited nature were an inspiration to those around her and will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

A private celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to 1JustCity, 109 Pulford Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 1X8, or to The Salvation Army Winnipeg, Centre of Hope, 180 Henry Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0J8.

Jane would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to Pat’s many friends, doctors, nurses, and home care attendants who provided care, kindness, and companionship to her precious Mom during her final years.
