OTTO KIRZINGER
With much sadness we announce the passing of Otto Kirzinger (92) on July 11th, 2026. Otto was a caring, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Otto was born in Munich, Germany in 1933 and he immigrated to Canada in 1958 with his first wife, Kirsten Paulsen Jacobsen.
Otto’s memory will be celebrated and cherished by his second loving wife Madeleine, daughter Kia, granddaughter Kira, granddaughter Kayla (Ryan) and great grandson Otto, grandson Logan (Bethany) and great granddaughters, Arlowe, Delilah and his two surviving siblings Louise and Gertraud. Otto was predeceased by his first wife Kirsten, daughter Kim, son Derik, daughter-in-law Jan, many dear siblings and in-laws.
Growing up during the Second World War, Otto came to Canada in 1958 with much courage, experience and hope. He valiantly attacked new challenges in the hotel and food services from the Royal Alexandra to Cara. In 1967, Otto joined the Red River Community College as a Food Service Instructor and he also completed his M.E.D. Degree at the University of Manitoba. In 1973, he became the head of Food and Hotel Services until he retired in 1992.
An avid reader, hard worker and artistically inclined, he shared all his talents, love and creations with family, co-workers and friends. In the early 80’s, he was already steeped in electronic and cooperative teaching and learning approaches. During his retirement, Otto’s valued activities were his continued passion of cooking, baking, reading, exploring electronics, beautifying the environment, travelling and enjoying time with family, friends and neighbors.
We will all miss your keen and subtle spirit, your delicious meals and loving care. You will always live in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 6th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 2400 Portage Avenue.
The family would like to thank all the family and friends for their love and support. Many thanks to the church, doctors, hospital staff and homecare workers for their care and support.
