Oscar leaves behind his wife, Sew (Jean) Lee (nee Choo), of 42 years of marriage; sons Paul and David; siblings Elin, Frank, Annie, Billie, and Florence; and all of his dear and supporting friends in the community of Baldur. He was predeceased by his siblings Lillian, Kenneth, and Tommy. Oscar was born in Baldur, Manitoba, August 26, 1924, to Foon Lee and Yee See. Prior to taking over the family business in Baldur, Oscar served in the Canadian Army with duty in Canada, United Kingdom, and India. He then operated Lee’s Food Mart (formerly Lee’s Lucky Dollar) for close to 50 years, until moving in 2010, into the Baldur Manor and then Winnipeg’s Deer Lodge Centre. He enjoyed sitting in the store front reading, solving puzzles, and playing solitaire, always inviting in passers-by for coffee or a chat in the back kitchen. Oscar is in our thoughts and will truly be missed. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at the Baldur Manor and the Deer Lodge Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Oscar’s memory may be made to Baldur Manor, P.O. Box 128, Baldur, Manitoba, R0K 0B0, or Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 0L3.Publish Date: Jan 9, 2012   As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on January 14, 2012
