NUNZIO JOHN MARCECA

December 9, 1934 – March 20, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing Father and Papa on March 20, 2021 at Brightwater Senior Living of Tuxedo. Dad left us with his family by his side at the age of 86 years.

John was predeceased by his devoted wife Carole Ann in 2016. Left to cherish John’s memory are his children Bryan (Dawn) Marceca, Kim (Brian) Nott, as well as his shining stars, grandchildren Kaitlyn (Noah), Danielle, Christopher and Jessica, sister-in-law and brother-in-law (Gail and Denis) Lillee from Stoney Creek, Ontario, along with nieces and nephews. John was also predeceased by his mother and father Rose and Nunzio Marceca.

John was born and raised in Winnipeg. Early on, Dad worked as a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker and until his retirement, with the Province of Manitoba as an Apprenticeship Councilor in the Department of Labor. Throughout his work life Dad met many people and was a true leader among his peers and with his apprentices. In 2004 Dad was elected and presented an award for Leadership and Outstanding Contribution to the Manitoba Apprenticeship Program.

The pride of Dad’s life was his family and grandchildren. Dad will be greatly missed for his kindness, generosity, positivity, and amazing smile. He was always there whenever we needed him. Whether it was to help with a home renovation or plan the next project, he was always there for us with a smile. Dad always took an interest in his grandchildren and was so proud of all their individual accomplishments. Papa will be remembered for his homemade pizza, sausages, bread, and cinnamon buns. Dad also always looked forward to being with his family at the cottage and basking in the sunshine.

Over the last few months, Dad was faced with health problems. He met them with determination and fought to the end to be with his family. Dad has now been reunited with his wife, our Mother and Nanny.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful team at Brightwater Senior Living of Tuxedo. Your compassionate and excellent care was greatly appreciated. A special thanks to our Guardian Angel Dr. Ramin Hamedani for his outstanding and compassionate care provided to our parents and us over many years.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions a private family service will be held.

Dad and Papa; We love you and will keep you in our hearts forever.

Not a day will go by that you are not in our thoughts.
