MICHAEL TANASYCHUK

After a short stay at the St. Boniface Hospital, Michael passed away at the great age of 97 years.

Michael was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 56 years Julia in 2007. Remaining to cherish Michael’s memory are his daughters Carol (Ron) Wells of St. Albert, AB, Gail of Winnipeg, Gwen (Darrell) Uchach of St. Albert, AB, and his son Michael (Paula Painchaud) of Winnipeg. In addition, he leaves behind his grandchildren Amanda, Brittney, Ashley (Grant), Michael (Lizzy), Ryan (Marita), Ciara and Kelsey (Jamie), great-grandson Gavin and brother Borden (Dorothy) of Dugald, MB as well of numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael was born October 9, 1923 in Winnipeg growing up in the north end. He married the love of his life, Julia on October 22, 1949.  He worked his life long job at Paulin Chambers where he worked as a baker retiring in 1988 after 44 years of employment. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing crib, casino trips, golfing which he started in his early 80’s and visiting with family and friends. And we cannot forget his passion for growing tomato plants.

He spent the last few years living at Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts assisted living where he made a number of friends and continued to enjoy life. As quoted by Gigi himself one of his greatest moments was when he got to meet his great-grandson Gavin in person in the summer of 2020.

Dad left an impression on everyone he met with his warm smile, his positive attitude and gift of conversation.

Thank you to the staff of Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts for all their caring and kindness they gave to Dad.  He truly enjoyed living there.

A private Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Eric Giddins presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

Rest in Peace Dad, we love you.
