MELTON GORDON COLBERT

Mel Colbert, 87, of Winnipeg, passed away quietly at home on Saturday, November 11, 2023. He was born January 4, 1936, to Katherine and John Zalusky.

Mel, the most loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather is survived by his wife, Kathy, children Lori and Craig, and granddaughter Kierstan Briscoe.

Mel was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, birding, and hiking. He loved his summers at Bird River and would tell anyone who listened about the brown bears in the flowerpots, the antics of the red foxes, flying squirrels at midnight, racoons on the deck and of course the hummingbirds whose aerobatics never failed to amaze.

A man of true integrity, he had simple tastes. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to provide support, forgive, and love will be forever engraved in all who knew him.

At Mel’s request, cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held.
