GWENNE MAUREEN SORENSEN

(NEE LAWSON)

1933 – 2019

Peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at the age of 86, Gwenne passed away at Oakview Place Personal Care Home surrounded by her family.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Kevin (Myrna) and Kris (Sandy); grandchildren, Kurt, Kara-Lynn (Daniel), Lionel and Lowell; great grandson Samsen and many nieces and nephews. Gwenne is also survived by her siblings Bruce, LaVerne and Fay. She was predeceased by her husband Curly; parents William and Myrtle Lawson, and her little sister Donna May.

Mom enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved our family get togethers to celebrate birthdays, Christmas and special occasions. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she enjoyed attending their sporting events, dance recitals, school concerts, etc. Mom loved sports and was an avid golfer, she was also active with snooker and curling teams. When Mom wasn’t playing sports or with family she was partying with her many friends, enjoying Celebrations, MTC, The WSO Pops, Goldeyes games, and so much more.

In accordance with Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A private graveside family gathering will take place at Starbuck Cemetery at a later date with Beth Rutherford officiating, Minister of Crestview United Church.

We would like to thank everyone who took care of Mom at Oakview Place, especially in her final days. The staff went over and above to keep Mom and us comfortable. Special thanks to Tatiana, Barb, Espie, Jillie Ann, Lilian, Nathaniel, Jose and many unit assistants.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Post-Polio Network Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
