Remaining to forever cherish Mary’s memory are her sister, Jean Balos; nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Josephine Woychuk; sisters, Bertha Witiuk and Steffie Donson; and brother, Bill Werner. Mary came to this country as an infant with her mother, uncle, and little sister, Bertha. Her father was already in Canada having homesteaded in the Molson area. She grew up in the Molson and Beausejour areas. In her young adult years, she went to work in the hospitality industry. Mary was a kind, friendly, conscientious employee and went on to work for Eatons in Montreal and Toronto. Twelve years ago, she sold her home in Toronto and became a resident at St. Anne’s Tower in the west end of the city. She moved to Winnipeg five years ago and resided at Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts. Mary loved living there; it was such a happy time for her. She was a well read and informed person. She had a wonderful smile, laugh, and a good sense of humor. On Wednesday, December 21, 2011 a Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts, 2300 Ness Avenue with Rev. Don Johnson Presider. A reception will follow the service. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 5th floor of the Grace Hospital for the wonderful care she received. They were all so very special. Thanks also to the wonderful staff and residents of the Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts who became family to Aunt Mary.Run Date: Dec 19, 2011   As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on December 24, 2011
