Marjorie Elizabeth Gwendoline Smith (nee McMillan)

June 5, 1925 - April 7, 2021

We are saddened to announce the passing of Marjorie Smith, age 95, at Park Manor Care in Winnipeg, on Wednesday April 7, 2021.

Marj was born June 5, 1925 in Bagot MB, the youngest of five. She married Wilmer (Bim) Smith on November 23, 1944 in a double wedding with her brother John McMillan and friend Phyllis.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret McMillan; her husband, Bim; son, Randy; sisters, Verna Lyttle and Doreen Williams and brothers John and Eldon McMillan, as well as her in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by daughter Myrna and husband Duncan Ross, grandchildren Kelly and Cameron (Natalie) and great grandson, Anders.

Marj moved to Winnipeg in 2018 to be closer to family, otherwise, she lived her entire life in or around the Portage la Prairie area. She worked for CN rail before marrying, then settling with Bim on their Century Farm north of Portage in Dale district, working side by side for an active farm life.

Bim and Marj shared a love of farming and animals. They were grateful for several winters in Hawaii or Texas, in their golden years. They loved square dancing, bowling and baseball (linament league and Goldeyes).

Marj was active in golfing, ceramics, knitting, and gardening. She tended a large garden until 2018.

Special thank you to Park Manor care givers, as well as Sturgeon Creek One. We are especially grateful to Owen and Pat Williams and Peggy and Richard Holland for their many years of attention and love.

A small memorial service will be considered for summer, 2021.
