MARIE LORRAINE MACDONALD

Peacefully after a brief courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved mother Marie Lorraine MacDonald (Houle) on March 14, 2021 in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 80.

Marie was born in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation on May 30,1940 and was the oldest of eight children. Mom will join her parents William Robert (Spike) Houle and Victoria Houle (Perswain) in the Spirit world along with her siblings Joseph Houle, Marie Guest (Houle) and Frieda Houle, great-granddaughters, Helena Houle and Riley Rougeau as well as her husband Allan MacDonald.

Left behind to remember Marie is her one and only child Vera Houle as well as Marie’s pride and joy four granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren – Crystal Lorraine (David) Allard and children Hanna-Lynn, Vienna, Tyrone, Victoria, Elizabeth and Liam; (Wanda) Marie Schiller and children Sophia and Lucas; Amanda Lynn Houle and children Peyton and Donovan; Bryanne and children Bella Anne and Rae-Lynn. Surviving siblings, brothers Angus and Maurice Houle, Charlie (Carol) Houle and sister Ruby (Felix) Vanasse.

Throughout her life Marie worked in the health care profession right up to her retirement. She married Al in 1975 and spent 35 happily married years with him before his passing. She enjoyed visiting family, old country music, playing bingo but most of all she loved being with her “girls” and spending time with her great grandchildren. She loved preparing the holiday meals and would sit and watch everyone enjoying the meal. She had an amazing ability to make guests feel welcome and part of the family, but if she did not like something said or done, look out – she would let you know.

A life, so beautiful, deserves a special celebration. You are invited to help us honor the life of my beautiful mother, Marie Lorraine MacDonald. Leave your sadness at the door, but bring rather your stories, your laughs, and your happiness over a life that was lived to the fullest.

A Celebration of Marie’s Life will be held on March 31, 2021 at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel,1020 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. She will be laid to rest with her husband Allan at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg.
