Left to forever cherish Marian’s memory is his wife, Annie; daughters Marion and Erika (Paula); granddaughters Simone and Danielle; sister Pella and family in Poland; as well as extended family in Germany. Marian was born in Kiczki/Warsaw, Poland. He survived the Second World War after being taken from Poland to Germany at the age of 15, where he eventually met his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Maria Ruhl. During the hard years after the war, the couple came to Canada in 1953 with their two young daughters. For over 25 years Marian worked for CPR then Via Rail until his retirement when he enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage at Victoria Beach. Puttering in his garden with his garden gnomes and prized tomatoes, taking long bike rides or walks and photographing absolutely everything, were his favourite pastimes. A devoted Opa to his beloved granddaughters, he immortalized their growth with imprints of their feet in his cement walkways. Marian was a friendly, talkative, outgoing man who was kind and generous to everyone. Marian was proud of his Polish heritage and loved reading about the history of Poland. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Polish Combatants Branch.
