IN LOVING MEMORY OF MABEL TAGGART (NEE HURLEY)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mabel Taggart (nee Hurley) on September 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully with her family at her side.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, William (Bill) Taggart. Remaining to cherish her memory are daughter Sharon (Dale Madill) and their son Evan, daughter Colleen (Alan Howelko), and their daughter May Lin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel met her future husband, Bill, while working at Dominion Bridge. Bill and Mabel were married on June 20, 1959, and shared 46 wonderful years together, building a wonderful family and a life filled with love, friendship, and many cherished memories.
Mabel found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved knitting, baking, summers at the lake, many family vacations to BC, and especially reading her cookbooks. She also enjoyed the simple pleasure of a shared meal with her family.
Mabel’s warmth, kindness and love of family touched the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The memories she created and the love she shared will remain with us always.
A special thank you to the staff at Oakview Personal Care Home for their care, compassion and support during this difficult time. Words cannot express our gratitude for all they have done for Mabel and our family.
Details and arrangements for a celebration of Mabel’s life will be shared with extended family and friends.
Rest peacefully, Mom. You will be loved and remembered always.
