Remaining to forever cherish Lynn’s memory are her parents Arthur and Mary (nee Fardy); brothers Lester, Wayne (Heather), Gregory (Valerie); sister-in-law Lyla; nieces Kristen (Michael Dow), Michelle, Elizabeth, Measha, and Rilena; nephews Scott, Jeffrey (Joanne) and Meako; great-nephews Cody Dow, and Dylan Dow; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandmother Evelyn and great-niece Brittany Dow. Lynn was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island on August 22, 1952, a baby sister for Lester. Sadly Lynn was afflicted with Spina Bifida with complications and other disorders. The attending physicians at the time estimated her life expectancy to be six to 12 months. Well our little Methuselah proved them and many more in the medical community for years to come, wrong, as she soldiered on battling a litany of ailments for the next 59 years. Throughout her entire life she was unable to walk, but this didn’t stop her. Lynn’s Dad was in the Air Force so the family moved several times over the next 17 years; eventually the family moved to and settled in Winnipeg in 1969. This gave her the chance to attend Hedges Middle School, making her the first physically challenged child to become part of a non-specialized middle school and eventually she transferred to Ellen Douglas. Lynn’s greatest passion in life next to her love of family; and others alike, was writing. Be it prose, poetry, or play writing, Lynn spent countless hours composing and exposing her innermost thoughts and feelings through a vast collection of original writings. Although never formally published, Lynn shared her gifts with family, friends, and acquaintances by compiling booklets of short stories and collections of poetry to distribute and present as gifts. Most recently Lynn shared a number of her recent poems with family, friends, fellow residents, visitors, and staff, at her home in Deer Lodge Center. There have been those who have met her only once who have expressed what a great loss it is for her positivity and love to be no longer part of this world. Lynn achieved many remarkable things in her life, including, but not limited to; attending Real school after years of home schooling, finishing Junior High School, moving out into her own apartment and eventually into a condo complex. Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 9:45 a.m., in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Fr. José Eduardo Medeiros presiding. Burial will follow in Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. Reception will take place in the Church Hall, following burial. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital emergency and ICU who worked hard to make Lynn’s last hours as comfortable as possible and to Father Jerry for tending to Lynn’s spiritual needs and easing her departure. A special thanks as well to the staff at Deer Lodge Center whose dedication and compassion contributed immeasurably to Lynn’s quality of life for the past nine years.
