LORNA MAY WHILLIER

Peacefully on August 4th 2026 during the night, after managing Alzheimer’s like a champ, Lorna, Mom Grandma and Auntie decide to leave us for a peaceful rest, although she is no longer here she assured us she is with her God and Family in heaven above, but also wanted to ensure everyone she loves down here on Earth knows she will symbolically return to watch over and protect you, so if you see a butterfly or suddenly bright blue surrounds you, she is present in your life, because you mattered to her. If you see a blue butterfly that’s real presence.

Her time at Lions Manor Care Home was a comforting experience with a great routine and activities, genuine staff support and care, loving friendly care workers who helped her manage the days with all they could do for her, they expressed how they will miss her kind, smile and warm heart, we her family thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

Such a great long life at 85 she out lived all her peers and origin family, preceded by her parents Laura and George Whillier and her dear only sister Lorraine Beardsley, our father Peter Van Went (Dianne), sister in-law and long time friends Alice Brennan and many more friends, I can see why she was ready to join them.

Although she will be sorrowfully missed by her Children; Crystal, Wendy, Anthony, Lawrence (Sharri) and Jannetje. Grandchildren; Darrel (Serena), Garret, Matthew and Christopher, Devon and Daniel, Cecily (Dillon) and Bailey, Nephews and Nieces; Brian, Kirk (Kim), Kevin (Bernadette) and Susan and many grandnieces and nephews all want her to have a peaceful rest and be close to her God in heaven.

Being a resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for her whole life she is a true blue Pegger who had a deep love for her City, Provence and Country.

Being a mother of 5 brought her love and joy, being a nurse at HSC senior services was her destiny, she lived to her fullest and brought life, light, color and positivity to everyone and everything she did, a collector of everything she enjoyed sharing her finds and wisdom with everyone.

She enjoyed an active interest in outside organizations and affiliations with all her close acquaintances at the Rebeka Lodge, HSC Retiree’s association

Sunsets, the color blue and butterfly’s really sums up her style and person, always taking time to stop and enjoy the little things and the gifts earth offers as she mentions in her book of poems and short stories, Inspired by Faith, Love and Life she was a writer at rest, and got awards for the best, dedicated to her mother Laura who loved her work, Lorna professes “Today is a Gift, that is why it is called the Present!” She saw life as an adventure to relish.

She won awards for her photos and her collection of sunsets and sunrises is telling of her love for life, nature and the world.

A beautiful person with the bluest of blue eyes, She had the biggest heart, sweet, kind and filled with enough love to share with everyone, fun and free with a side of intelligence, strong feminine ideals and perspectives.

She loved to read, write and learn, before Google search, there was Lorna, a fact and knowledge dictionary of the obscure, prominent, historic and profound, ask and she has the answers.

She loved animals and had many pets, Amos and Andy, Dolly, Lady, Sam, Misty and Spot her dear hearts and faithful friends she cared for and loved throughout her life.

There is no space to list the collections she had, but she was happily surrounded by some of her favourite finds through the years till the end.

The viewing on August 4, 2026 at 9:30 am will precede a future date when her oldest daughter Crystal can be with us to spread her ashes as she wished in the water so she can ebb and flow forever in nature. At that future time we will have a family celebration of life in remembrance.

She had pastoral care through her time in Lion’s Care we are thankful for Greg his gentle care and time making my mom feel closer to her God, he took time to read to her and spent time keeping her company through the weeks, months and years she managed Alzheimer’s we can never express what this means to us, except …Blessed

Special thanks to the managers and staff at Lions Manor Care Home the cooperative ways we managed her care and needs together, made having her in care a comfort to her and our family, there is great rewards for people who give so much to meet the needs of others, truly her peaceful time and rest in their care was God sent.

Donations to Siloam Missions in lieu of flowers was her wish.

Finally Wojcik’s, Rachel, Shannon and staff, the family care model of peaceful rest in their hands has made this overwhelming event warm, comforting and special, the accommodations and support, flawless professionalism is a treasure in our province, we don’t know how we could have done this without you, truly thankful.

Peaceful rest and safe accent to God, Family, Loved ones and heavenly palace we wish our mother, grandmother, aunt and best friend a new and hopeful well deserved beginning.
