March 27, 2012

LORETTA THERESA LISI (nee POLTRONETTI) 1933 – 2012 Surrounded by her family, Loretta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. She was the oldest of three children, born in Winnipeg on April 21, 1933 to Frank and Mary Poltronetti. She married her best friend Edmondo in September 1954 and together they created many happy memories raising their family, travelling to their cottage and enjoying each other’s love through life’s journey. Loretta will be forever loved and missed by her devoted husband Edmondo; her loving family: Mary Louise; Teresa, Klaus, Kelsey; Eleanor; Roy, Arlie; Trent, Lori, Beck; Todd, Guia; Gianna, Trevor, Lucas; Rosa; Carmela, Miguel, Gabriela, Diego; Carmine; grand-dogs Topaz and Topaz II; as well as family and friends. Before being struck with Multiple Sclerosis, Loretta was a vibrant, energetic person, devoted to family and enjoying all the special times with them. She was a talented seamstress, and loved to cook and bake, knit, crochet, read, garden, and spend time at the cottage. Latterly she found peace in Topaz’s company, resting her hand on his head or stroking his fur. A private family Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church at a later date with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. The family would like to thank all the HCAs, nurses and staff from the WRHA Home Care who made it possible for Loretta to remain at home until the last few days. They are amazing people! We would also like to thank the staff on the fourth floor, respite section at Deer Lodge Hospital. These folks will miss Loretta’s visits. Family also wishes to thank the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic ambulance attendants and the staff at the Victoria General Hospital Emergency Department and fourth floor for their care and compassion at this difficult time. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1; The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or a charity of choice. We love and miss you Loretta, Mom, Nonna, Auntie and Zia… God’s Garden God looked around His garden And found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered, Peace be thine’. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. Anon   As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on March 31, 2012
