LINDA KNIGHT

(NEE DALMAN)

Linda passed peacefully on November 22, 2019. There is nothing as hurtful as this life which is temporary in nature.

Predeceased by parents Ferdinand and Josephine Dalman, brother Eric and sister in law Beverly.  Linda will be dearly missed by husband Don, daughter Kim, son-in-law Sean, grandchildren Anika and Morgan, brother Lyall (Joanie), sister Johanne (Brian) and many other extended family members and dear friends.

How do we eulogize a daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother who was self-luminous?  She shone with love for life. A life lived with integrity, intelligence and compassion.  She was an excellent judge of character, listened carefully and had an amazing reserve of endurance and strength.  Her smile was magnetic.  She had a great capacity to love. She was devoted to her family and was a loyal cheerful friend. She understood that life is precious and lived it fully, independently and energetically.

Linda had a very happy childhood growing up in East Kildonan. She graduated from Miles MacDonnell Collegiate.  She enjoyed the challenges and people she met throughout her working career. Linda was dedicated to Don for fifty-three years. She loved travelling, spending time with the children in her life, cooking, singing, entertaining and laughing at Don`s jokes. She took pleasure in finding beauty in daily life, walking her dogs, shopping, lunching with friends, going to plays, music and dance performances, and reading books on the dock at the Lake. She delighted in her grandchildren.

It was Linda’s wishes that there be no service.

In her generous way, she chose to share a poem that exactly reflected her feelings:

“Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there, I do not sleep

I am a thousand winds that blow

I am the diamond glints on snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain

I am gentle autumn’s rain

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight

I am the soft stars that shine at night

Do not stand at my grave and cry

I am not there; I did not die.”
