Lena Genevieve Woodhouse

February 27, 1934-April 6, 2021

Peacefully on April 6, 2021, our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, Sister, Auntie, Cousin and Friend went to join our eternal Father.

Lena leaves to mourn her children: Loretta (Chief Garnet) Woodhouse, Alex Woodhouse, Melvin Graham, Lorna Piepers, Leona (Henry) Bokma, June Bucko, and Diane (Kevin) Friesen; Grandchildren: Her King Richard (Freda), Jordan, Trevor (Brandi), Craig, Cindy (Curtis), Her Queen Natalie, Tasha (Taylor), Alexander, Michael, Matthew, Luke, Brianna (Dallin), Michelle, Levi, Anthony, Sam and Louie; 26 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.  She leaves to mourn her sisters and Brothers: Hattie (Bernard) Letandre, Grace (Larry) Dodge, Tom (Verna) Woodhouse, Steve (Eileen) Woodhouse, Shirley (Leslie) Sumner, Sister in-law Violet Woodhouse.

In her early years, mom was a hard working person, she had various jobs at the MET, Gunn’s Bakery, serving the Wright Family for many years, and worked as a nurse’s aide at the Misericordia Hospital.  She met her lifetime spouse of 53 years, Dennis Christopoulos in her young years in Winnipeg, she was devastated of his passing in 2018.

In mom’s spare time she enjoyed strolling through parks with her kids, going to dances with Dennis, and to rodeos with family and friends. She liked watching Johnny Cash, wrestling, watching the Price is Right, the Young and the Restless and Natalie was not allowed to call at that time of the day.

She enjoyed reading the Winnipeg Free Press and enjoying Copenhagen Snuff. She frequented The Bay Downtown and Portage Place Shopping Center for Coffee and Burgers at A&W with her grandkids. She also loved to wear make-up and dress herself nice.

In her later years, she joined Dennis at the Deer Lodge Centre, where they would hold hands for long periods and smile fondly at each other. It was here that they had passed away. The Family would like to thank all the staff at the Tower 5 at the Deer Lodge Centre for their love, compassion and caring for mom in her last years. Covid was difficult for Granny, and we are grateful for the staff, especially Chris that set up Zoom Meetings with the family over the past year.

Lena was predeceased by her Spouse Dennis Christopolous. her Parents Jeannie & Alex Woodhouse. Her Biological father Allen Sinclair, her brothers Billy & George Woodhouse, her Niece Lois Woodhouse, Nephews Curtis Traverse & Steven Dodge, Brother In-Law George (Todgie) Traverse, and a set of twins at birth.

The Family would like to thank the Deer Lodge Centre, Pastor Ray Cornish, the Emergency Staff at the Grace Hospital, and to all our friends and family for the flowers, texts, messages of condolence and support.

A private Funeral will take place on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at the Wojcik’s Funeral Home, 1020 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Please note Covid-19 protocols and restrictions will be followed.
