KINOY VISETH

DECEMBER 25, 1973 – JANUARY 8, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Kinoy’s passing on Friday January 8, peacefully at home, at the age of 47.

Kinoy will be forever missed by his wife Joanne, his treasured daughter Ava and sweet son Jalen. He also leaves behind his parents Visian and Somboune Viseth, and his brothers Chila (Nang) and Jimmy (Ping). Additionally, he will be missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kinoy was lucky to have a large family and many close friends, who gathered often, and who will dearly miss his smile and irrepressible sense of humour.

Kinoy was born in Vientiane, Laos, and moved to Canada when he was seven years old. He grew up in Winnipeg’s West End, graduating from Gordon Bell. During high school and ever since, one of Kinoy’s great passions was sports, especially basketball, baseball and volleyball. He was small, but lightning fast; he loved being part of a team and was usually one of the best players. If he were writing this, he would say he was definitely, without a doubt, simply the best (cue Tina Turner).

Kinoy was also blessed with an ever-present smile and laugh, and a fearless and whacky sense of humour. He loved being with his friends, family and cousins, and making them laugh. He was famous for his legendary collection of goofy t-shirts.

Kinoy married his sweet Joanne in 2007, and was blessed with two awesome, wonderful, amazing children – who he loved with all his heart. After working in various industries, Kinoy had settled into a role as General Manager of Thrifty car rental, part of the Eastside Sales group. He loved his customers, who became friends, and he made a valuable contribution to the business.

In fall 2020, Kinoy was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He fought hard to be with his family for birthdays and Christmas. He accepted his diagnosis with grace and spent his final weeks full of love and gratitude. He told us all he loved us. He said he was lucky: he married the perfect woman, and he had the two most amazing kids in the world.

To our dear husband, father, son, brother, cousin, friend – rest in peace. We will miss you. We will never, ever forget you. You were one of a kind.

Thanks to our team at Palliative Care, you were amazing.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba – or wear a silly T-shirt and smile.
