KENNETH BILLINGSLEY SMITH On Wednesday, June 6, 2012, Ken’s Funeral Service was held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue.Publish Date: Jun 9, 2012KENNETH BILLINGSLEY SMITH March 2, 1928 – May 30, 2012 After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s, Kenneth Smith, beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather passed away at the age of 84 years. Left to forever cherish Ken’s memory are his wife Constance, of 59 years of marriage; daughter Eileen (Harvey) Kellner; sons Lorne, Douglas (Marilyn), Reginald (Anita), William, Donald (Maria), Earl, Eric; grandchildren Nadine, Shannon, Lovell, Jordon, Sandy and Taylor; as well he leaves behind his brother Ronald (Janet); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Winnifred and Loretta. Ken was born at home on Brock Street in Winnipeg in 1928. He delivered papers, attended St. Aidan’s Sunday School and was a Boy Scout in his youth. He attended Queenston School, Robert H. Smith School and graduated from Kelvin High School. His working career started at the Smith Agency. In 1953 Ken married Constance and moved into their first home in North Kildonan, this is also where Captain Ken became one of the original Volunteer Firemen. In 1975, he commenced his own business, ABC Filing Business Systems Ltd. Also, in the same year Ken was introduced to Lionism. He was a member of the Lions Club of Winnipeg for many years and in 1986 became President. Ken also belonged to the Antique Car Club and was an avid collector and tinkerer of Falcon automobiles. After retiring in 2003 he was able to enjoy many summers at the cottage in Whytewold with his grandkids Jordon and Taylor. On Wednesday, June 6, 2012 Ken’s Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. We wish to thank the caring staff at West Park Manor that were with Ken at the end and the staff that came to visit him during his final days.
