KELVIN WESLEY HURST

September 28, 1939 – October 16, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden, yet peaceful passing of Kelvin Hurst on October 16, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 81.

Kelvin is survived by his partner and soul mate of 49 years, Alice, two sons, Darrell and Randy, three stepsons, Lance, Richard, and Bradley, stepdaughter Sherry, brother Keith, sister Joanne and their spouses, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Wes (1992), mother Kay (2019), brother Carter (2013), and sister-in-law Flore (2014).

Kelvin was born September 28, 1939, to Wes and Kay Hurst of Treherne, MB., the eldest of four children. He grew up on the family farm until moving to Winnipeg when he was 16. He worked at several places before landing his dream job as lead hand at Versatile Mfg. He worked there for many years, retiring in 2001.

In retirement, Kelvin and Alice enjoyed their trips to BC and Alberta to visit family, camping and fishing at Lee River, and playing cards and doing word search puzzles in their spare time at home. It was the simple things in life that made Kelvin so happy.

Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, there will be no service at this time. It is hoped that a service honouring the life of Kelvin will take place early in the new year.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff of MICU at Health Sciences Centre for the care and compassion that Kelvin received prior to his passing.
