JANE REID MCAULAY

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mum and grannie Jane (Jean) Reid Brown McAulay, also fondly known to family and friends as “wee Jeannie” on Sunday January 24, 2021 at the age of 84.

Jean was born in Paisley Scotland on April 24, 1936. Together with her four children and husband Charlie they took the brave step and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1974, in search of a better life! Jean and Charlie would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in March of this year and truly loved each unconditionally throughout the years.

Jean is survived by her husband Charlie, four children, Chuck (Julie), Ian, Jane, and Ann as well as her sister Nancy McKenna. Jean loved her seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and will be sorely missed by “all the wee weans” as she would say in her thick Scottish brogue.

Jeannie had a heart of hospitality as many friends and even some strangers would attest too, and her door was always open. She loved her bingo whether in person or playing the Kinsman Jackpot TV bingo and her favorite saying was “house”!

A private memorial service was held by the family in Virginia and a celebration of life will be held in Winnipeg for her friends when travel and gatherings are allowed. Cremation has taken place and as Jean wished her ashes will be taken to Scotland so she can be with her mother, father and twin sister May.

Farewell Bonnie wee Jeannie as we remember a good old Scottish song that Charlie rewrote the words to and used to sing to Jeannie. She is peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
