JANINA PLOSKI

June 16,1933 – January 31, 2021

After a brief illness, our mother and grandmother, Janina Ploski, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Janina is survived by her children, Raymond and Wendy (daughter in law), Richard, and Daniel. She will be missed by her grandchildren Amanda, Ryan, and Melissa. She also leaves behind many relatives back in England. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings.

Mom was born in Poland, and thru the Second World War was taken to Siberia as a little girl with her family and then to Africa to live in war refugee camps. After the war, she ended up in England where she got married. From there Mom emigrated to Canada and arrived in Winnipeg in 1956 where she lived the rest of her life. She was very much involved in Holy Ghost Church, Catholic Women’s League (twice president), Polish Combatants Association (SPK), Polish Girl Guides as a leader, and the Polish Choir. Mom also worked at the Winnipeg Convention Center for 25+ years.

We are thankful to all the doctors, nurses, and care givers at Seven Oaks and Grace Hospitals and St. Josephs Residence. They always enjoyed caring for her as she always had a sunny disposition.
