My late father went to school in Winnipegosis with Hilda. As a teenager I heard all about Hilda, “ the smartest girl at school in Winnipegosis.” I met Hilda when she lived in the same assisted living residence as my dad. I appreciated Hilda being a great friend to him, even though they had not seen each other for about 70 years! I enjoyed visiting with Hilda- she was a truly lovely lady. And she was smart! She had a good sense of humour, she was wise, warm and caring. She was right, dementia is a sad ending to a beautiful life. I visited her once after she moved to the care home, and didn’t return as I felt it was confusing for her. I will always remember her with sincere affection and gratitude- she was a person who made life better for those who knew her. Heartfelt condolences to her family- she spoke of you all often with much love and joy!
