It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Gord on April 16th at the age of 87.

Gord was born in Apsley, Ontario, and joined the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 16, proudly serving for 35 years.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Donna of 64 years, his daughter Julie Penelton (Gary), and his son Randal (Brenda). He was a proud grandfather to Kayla (Marc), Stephanie (Dave) Braydon (Savannah), and Taya. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Ada, Emery, Arthur, and Tatum, who brought him immense joy. He will be missed by dear family including Brad Penelton (Josie), Marni Penelton (Rob) and Karen Ayotte.

Throughout his military career, Gord was posted to Egypt, Gagetown, Fredericton, Germany, North Bay, Cyprus, London, St.Louis and served with Base Supply as well as Air Command in Winnipeg. After retiring from the Forces Gord worked for Bristol Aerospace and for the Commissionaires.

Gord had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing and coaching both hockey and baseball. He was also an avid golfer. He was a dedicated member of ANAF Unit 283 and served as past president of the Over 55 Club. He also enjoyed spending many summers with the gang at Spruce Sands Resort.

Gord will be forever remembered by his family and friends for his countless stories and recollections of his past exploits.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to his many friends at Glendale Court for their kindness and support.

In keeping with Gord’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and he has been laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
