GORDON E. KENT

After a courageous battle with lung cancer, it is with deep regret we announce the passing of our dear spouse, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew and friend Gord at age 64 on Sunday January 12, 2020. Gord passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends at home as he wished. He was born on November 6, 1955 in Charlottetown, PEI.

Survived by loving partner Germaine Kruse, daughters Cindy (Robin), Wendy (Brad), son Richard and daughter Chelsey (Ramiel), stepchildren Bonnie-Lee (Kevin), A.J. (Maybelle) and Jesse. Gord was grandfather of Hope, K.J., Rylen, Mary, Emmerson, Michael, Sara, Leah, Nathan, Chantal, Bella, Vince, and Jensen; brother of Kathy (George), Hayden (Donna), and Robert (Kathy); uncle of many nieces and nephews and special friend to R.G. and Deb Hemlow. He was predeceased by parents Lloyd and Mary Kent.

Gord was gifted in carpentry and renovation work, which he helped many of his friends with. He will be missed by his colleagues at Supremex where he was employed for 10 years. He was very active in ANAVETS Unit 283 where he held many chairs on the Executive Council. Gord received his life membership in January 2015 and the Order of Service Award in October 2019. He also served on Provincial Command holding many chairs and elected as Provincial President in 2017 until November 13, 2019 stepping down due to his declining health. He was a member of Canadian Military Veterans Support Group and very passionate and committed to working for our veterans. Gord was an avid golfer, curler, bowler, snooker and dart player.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at ANAVETS #283 – 3584 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Cremation has taken place and private interment will be held at a later date in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
