GOLDIE CAYLEY (nee GRAHAM) Goldie (Graham) Cayley died early Monday, June 4 2012 in Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg leaving us for her heavenly home. Left to cherish Goldie’s memory are her daughter Shirley MacIver; grandson Michael MacIver; older sister Joyce James; as well as many nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephew across both Canada and the US. She was predeceased by her mother and father Marry L. (Conly) and George Graham; sister Rose (Bill) Manson; brother Herald; brother Lloyd (Yvonne); sister Grace (Bill) Gore; sister Pearl and husbands Jack Osborne and Ernie Sarsons; brother-in-law Gordon (Joy) James; mother and father-in-law Ethel (Pinchbeck) and Bert Cayley; brother-in-law Bert (Mabel Greenbank); two half brothers and their wives; a half sister; several nieces and nephews. On January 9, 1923 Goldie was born in Lomand, Alberta. She grew up on Calgary’s north hill attending Stanley Jones, Crescent Heights and Western Schools. She married Alfred Cayley of Parkhill Calgary in 1942. She worked a number of jobs often rising to be in charge of a section, department or store (Eatons, Picirdy, Woolco and others). Goldie spent several years as Nanny to Sandra and Jon Carlson. She and Alf were pleased to welcome their grandson Michael (1977) and spoil him. Goldie loved being hostess and carried off many family and friend events, graciously, tired, pleased with the results and compliments overcoming the tension between reclusive Alf and her desire to host. She tried many different crafts using kits or springing an idea from something she saw. When her husband Alf died in 1997 she moved to Winnipeg to live with her daughter. Over the middle years in Calgary Goldie faced many health issues that later in life took a toll. She spent ten years in daughter Shirley’s care and four plus years in the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. There are many individuals along the way to be thanked. To avoid missing any, Shirley and Mike want to thank those who truly cared, supported and worked for Goldie’s best interest, thanks again. Please no Flowers.
