GERALDINE (GERRY) MARY TREEN Today, Saturday, December 17, 2011, Gerry’s Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue at Sharp Boulevard.Run Date: Dec 17, 2011GERALDINE (GERRY) MARY TREEN On Saturday, December 10, 2011, Geraldine Treen passed away suddenly in her home at the age of 70 years. Left to forever cherish Gerry’s memory are her daughter Cathy (Don) of Winnipeg; son Chuck of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Tara, Brenda, Grant, Doug, Devin; great-grandson James; sisters, Glenda (Chip) Lake of BC, Marva Fuhr of SK, Sharon (Murray) Duchnycz of BC; brother-in-law Fred Statham of Moose Jaw, SK; many nieces; nephews; as well she will be sadly missed by her loving companion of 12 years, Sandi her beloved dog. She was predeceased by her husband George and sister Fairlie Statham. Gerry was born in Moose Jaw, SK on September 11, 1941. She moved to Portage la Prairie in 1958 where she met George and they married in 1959. Shortly after they were posted to Germany. Their daughter Cathy was born in 1960 and son Chuck in 1961. Gerry and George spent a lot of their free time in Europe travelling which she always fondly remembered. Upon returning to Canada they lived in New Brunswick for five years. They were then posted to Gimli for a short stay then on to Winnipeg in 1970. In 1970 Gerry was diagnosed with Crohn’s which she struggled with the remainder of her life. She and George were members of ANAF #283 for many years, where Gerry was also an active member with the Ladies Auxiliary. She will always be remembered by friends and family for her chicken and dumplings, butter tarts, pies and also for her knitting and many crafts.
