GERALD RICHARD PRAWDZIK

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerald Richard Prawdzik (Gerry), on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the age of 79, at Health Sciences Centre, with his family at his side.

Left to mourn, are Gerry’s beloved wife, Ruth (Zahodnik); his children Betty-Jo (Shawn) and Ronald; cherished granddaughters Jordyn, Milla, Neve and step-granddaughter Leia. He was predeceased by his son Cameron,

Gerry was born on August 17, 1940, the middle son in a family of three brothers (Harold and Gordon) in the RM of Rosedale, MB to Alfred and Rose (Rainka) Prawdzik. He attended High School in Eden, MB, where he met his wife Ruth. They were married in 1962 (57 years). Gerry was a furniture salesman, leading the family to enjoy living in towns such as Melita and Grandview. Gerry and Ruth loved living in smaller communities where they developed many close, lasting friendships. After retiring in Beausejour, they moved back to Winnipeg where they continued to enjoy curling, golf, playing cards, gardening and square dancing. Over the years, Gerald has been an active member in the Roman Catholic Church and with the Knights of Columbus.

Gerald always loved a good joke. He loved to laugh and tell stories. They lived in different provinces, but he and his brothers were very close and spoke on the phone every day. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

Thank you to CancerCare Manitoba for the support and care that they have provided over the last 15 years.
