It gives us great sadness that our loving mother and wife, Gene Marion Karpenic has passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 72 years.
Gene is survived by her husband Dave; daughter April (Darren); son Shawn (Neriza); grandchildren Bradley (Julie), Travis, Katelynn; great grandchildren Leon and Colten; sisters Joan (niece Sharlene, nephew Shane) and Irene (niece Tracy). She was predeceased by her mother Laura Gara and brother Bobby Hunter.
For 18 years, Gene worked at Shoppers Drug Mart and 12 years with Sears, retiring at the age of 63. Mom loved country music and Elvis Presley. She spent most of her time in Clear Lake at our family cabin. When she was a teenager she worked at the Wig Wam and spent many summers there with friends. Mom was a very loving and caring person who touched many hearts over the years.
A private interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery. A celebration of Gene’s Life will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion #4, 1755 Portage Avenue.
