GARY WAYNE BIGWOOD

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Wayne Bigwood. He died unexpectedly, on Saturday, May 20^th, 2023, at St. Boniface Hospital. Gary was 83 years old and is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, (Erviena) Lynn Bigwood, son Bobby Bigwood and wife Tiffany, daughter Shannon Siemens and husband Mike, as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Gary was “one in a million” and to know him was to love him. He was an avid Winnipeg Jets fan dating back to the days of the WHA, and he was responsible for so many of the clever quotes the Booster Club posted in the arena to cheer on the team and encourage the fans.

Gary and Lynn enjoyed many years of adventure together. From camping and road trips with the kids, to Caribbean cruises, tropical getaways, and their winning trips to Vegas, Gary loved to travel, and meet new people. If you have ever spent time with him, you have also likely heard him recite a poem (or 2 or 3). He had a way with words and was always generous with his compliments and charm. His grandchildren loved how he could turn anything you said into a song. A husband, father, Papa, and friend who will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where “the only thing better than the food, is the service.”
