Eva Hill

On January 11th, our Mom, Eva Hill, peacefully passed away at 98 years. She is leaving behind a very large family. On the day she passed, our Mom recited all of our names one more time; Bill (Cindy), Barbara (Gerry), Doug (Keri), Dennis (Janet), Russell (Sylvia), Ron, Glen (Mercy) and Dolores (Craig). If we add the 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, as Mom would say, they all belong to me!

Mom is predeceased by her husband Jack; daughter Barbara; great grand-daughter Hannah; daughter in law Sylvia; brothers Russell and Clarence; her sister Margaret and her parents, Alma & Bill Sanderson.

When our Mom and Dad started their journey in 1945, Charleswood was on the edge of Winnipeg and was considered as “out in the country”. The roads were mud (Manitoba gumbo), we hauled water by horse and buggy, cooked on a wood stove, had a few hogs, a couple of chickens and a cow named Daisy. Not to forget, was the outhouse around the corner and behind the garage. When the eight children started to come along, life was more than busy! It seemed that my Mom’s clothes line was a mile long. Considering all that, Mom somehow made time to enjoy the things she loved to do. Square dancing, baseball, bowling, bingo and playing cards; yes, we kids were always included (even if we didn’t want to go!).

Our Mom was a lifetime member of the Charleswood Legion and served with the Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary for 70 years. When we were small kids, she even spent some of her time working for Verna and Len Van Roon on their chicken ranch. Lots happened over the years, the good things and bad that come along to every parent. School and all the activities that we kids were involved with, my Mom was part of. She was ahead of her time as she knew what multitasking was before the word was invented.

We thank her for all the opportunities she made for us, we loved her, and we will miss her dearly.

Thank you kindly to the Team of wonderful folks at West Park Manor
