ELAINE ELEANOR STOKES

(NEE ELIAS)

April 22,1939 – December 15, 2020

It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Elaine Stokes.

Left to mourn her passing are her beloved children, son Kevin, daughter Kelli and her treasured grandson Colin. She also leaves the light of her life, her puppy Toby. He was always by her side providing countless hours of love, laughter and companionship. She leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Juliet, and her brother Gerald.

In her younger years, Mom excelled in a variety of sports. She won many awards as a league bowler. After the birth of my sister and I, Mom decided to become a full-time homemaker and stay at home Mom. In her later years, she became an Avon representative and took great pride in this new role. Her greatest joy was her family, and she was always there when we needed her. Mom was a wonderful cook and baker always ready to try out a new recipe. She was well known for her Chili, Apple Crisp and Turtle Cake. She loved spending summers relaxing at the family cottage in Matlock enjoying a glass of wine on the deck, searching the beach for treasures and chatting with the neighbors. Mom was an avid shopper and loved watching The Shopping Channel. She enjoyed gardening and her yard was her pride and joy. She also had the opportunity to take a European vacation. This was a dream trip for her, and the highlight was exploring Paris and Venice.

In accordance with mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to COVID -19 restrictions, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

We would like to thank the staff at the Grace General Hospital, in both the Emergency Department and ICU, for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society or any charity of your choice.
