DORA BURT

1927-2020

Peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2020 Dora passed away at home at the age of 92.

Dora was born in Rhein, Saskatchewan on July 26, 1926. She was predeceased by her loving husband Adam David Burt on March 21, 2003, her parents Ludwig and Margarete Waschenfelder, siblings, Mary, Martha, Jacob, Pauline, Amilia (Millie) Selma, Anna, Margaret, Selma.

Her memory will be cherished by her sister Sarah Vopni and her many nieces, nephews and friends. She loved her large family and their many gatherings over the years.

Dora lived her life with a carefree positive outlook and always could see the funny side of any situation. She had a long-standing career in banking, always keeping up with current affairs, company mergers, and national news. She was an avid reader and loved her Free Press paper for its news as well as ‘the puzzles’. Dora had a zest for travelling and enjoyed her fishing and camping trips, going coast to coast in Canada, a trip to Alaska, Europe, England, Mexico and the many years she wintered in Texas with Adam and later to British Columbia. Dora enjoyed long walks (rain or shine) and riding the city buses.

Dora was true optimist, never complaining or criticizing and always had time to talk and “listen” with interest – her door was always open, you were always made to feel cherished and never judged – a real confidant. She had compassion for the less fortunate and was always willing to mingle with all peoples and quietly help them out. Dora will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor and humility and will be dearly missed.

The family want to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to amazing staff at Sturgeon Creek 1 Residence and the Home Care staff.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
