DAWN JOANNE DIERICKSE (MEDYNSKI)
Dawn Joanne Dierickse (Medynski) passed away peacefully on 6 June 2026. Born in Ottawa, Ontario to Laura (Crealock) and Walter Medynski in December 1963, she was raised in Ontario and the family, which by then included younger sister, Sandra, moved to Manitoba in 1979.
Dawn graduated from John Taylor Collegiate and went on to proudly build a career in the Canadian Armed Forces (Reserve), mainly in Winnipeg, except for the years spent at Penhold, Alberta where she met and married the love of her life, George Dierickse in (1993). The couple was blessed with a son, Daniel in 1997 who immediately became the centre of her life.
Dawn was an active member of the Crestview United Church and made friends wherever she went. Whether it was a “Crafternoon” at the church, providing baking, being a chauffeur, or knitting hats, Dawn will be remembered for her quick smile, willingness to help, love of a good lunch and many thrifting adventures and travel stories.
A Celebration of Life will be held by Crestview United Church at 1PM on 23 July at their shared location, Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, Winnipeg.
The family wish to thank staff & volunteers at Grace Hospital and Cancer Care Manitoba for their care, compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in Dawn’s name.
